Adelheid Herrmann is a co-investigator and senior research professional at the Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Preparedness at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her work supports rural Alaska Native Nations and communities as they respond to and adapt to climate change.
Herrmann’s projects focus on strengthening the capacity of rural Alaska Tribes to develop, carry out, and implement adaptation, resilience, and mitigation planning processes. Her areas of expertise include climate adaptation, community resilience, community adaptation, knowledge co-production, regional small grants programs in Alaska, workforce development, tourism, fisheries, and the maritime and seafood industries. She also brings extensive knowledge of state and federal agencies.
Herrmann is based in Anchorage, Alaska, and returns to her home village of Naknek each summer, from June through August.
