Sherrie, a tribal member of the Pueblo of Laguna, New Mexico, brings more than 35 years of expertise in administration, hospitality, tourism, and meeting and event planning to the American Indigenous Tourism Association. As the Association’s longest-serving employee, with over 16 years of dedicated service, she plays a pivotal role in organizing signature educational programs such as Go International and the American Indigenous Tourism Conference, including spearheading fundraising efforts for both events.
She also manages the Association’s Scholarship Program, which awards bi-annual scholarships to Native American students pursuing careers in tourism or hospitality, and oversees the Internship Program.
Sherrie holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Hospitality & Tourism, an associate’s degree in liberal arts, and a certificate in cultural heritage tourism from the Association and the George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies.
Sherrie is a proud mother of three children — Helen, Ryan and Jontel — and is “Nana” to her five grandchildren, Dakota, Daisha, DeAndre, Emmi, and Cassius.
